Brava: Local authority will subsidize university students by 300 thousand escudos monthly
Around fifty-four students from this island, at different universities in the country, will benefit this year from the Brava City Council subsidy, estimated at 300 thousand escudos per month.
This information was provided to Inforpress today by the councilor responsible for Education and Training, Mário Soares, on the sidelines of the contract signing ceremony between the parties.
According to the councilor, this is a commitment that the city council has annually with young students from Ilha Brava who have already completed the 12th year of schooling and who intend to continue their university studies and young people who intend to pursue technical or professional areas.
According to the same, for this academic year 23/24 the city council received a total of 12 new requests for subsidies, with the city council responding to 100 percent (%) of the requests from the 54 beneficiaries in general.
Mário Soares also highlighted that the municipality has been considering the two best students in the municipality who achieved the best averages, awarding them a scholarship and to the other beneficiaries a subsidy equivalent to seventy percent of the tuition fee.
“The subsidy is valid for the entire year of training, which for some is four years and others five, depending on the length of training or course. We are appealing to all beneficiaries to make the most of this opportunity, because it is an investment made directly in people, with an impact on improving quality of life”, he appealed.
In turn, Djenifer Neves, one of the beneficiaries, says she is very happy with the support from Brava City Council to continue her studios and took the opportunity to thank her, promising that she will do her best to “reap fruits in the future”.
Asheley Tavares, who was also awarded support, considers the council's attitude to be very important and promises to do everything she can to make the investment worthwhile.
